Amanda Atkinson T.C.R.G has been teaching at American Dance Academy since September of 2008. She has attended several Feisanna throughout her dancing career with the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance taking many first place positions. In 2012, American Dance Academy created an Irish dance school within it’s own school which is the Michigan Irish Dance Academy. Amanda strives to teach Traditional Irish dance in a fun and creative way. Not only do her students learn how to Irish dance, they will also learn the Irish language of Gaelic. Amanda incorporates Gaelic within the class so the children aren’t just learning about Irish dance, but the culture as well. Amanda also gives the children an opportunity to compete at a Feis(fesh) an Irish dance competition. This is a completely optional event, but gives the children an opportunity to focus on more than just having fun in class, but really focusing on technique, stamina, core strength and learning to be competitive in a positive way. Amanda is a Mother of 3 daughters and owns her own business Atkinson Irish Products which supplies Irish and Highland dance shoes and supplies.
"I have been learning Gaelic, the Irish language, and teach it to my students as we dance. It's my goal to continue the Irish tradition of step dancing and the language as my ancestors did before me."
